Mopar oil pressure sender

My oil pressure gauge recently started reading zero so I am going to replace the oil pressure sender. I read some other threads saying that anything besides a Mopar one will cause issues, so I called the dealership to see if they had one and they said they do and it's 71 dollars. Is this a normal price? That seems absurd

How do I determine if it's just the sender, or there is actually no oil pressure? If it is just the sender would it matter to continue driving the vehicle?

If your oil pressure is actually at zero you would know it from nasty banging and clanging sounds. Those sounds can even happen at pressures above zero. but I wouldn't plan on driving it too much even without those sounds.

Did you check the wire going to the sensor? There's always a chance that some rodent decided to snack on it.

There are other oil pressure senders that work well but it's a crapshoot finding them. Especially at low-end auto parts stores like Autozone that push their junk house brands like Duralast. I had to buy three one Sunday from Autozone before getting one that worked properly for my son's Grand Cherokee.

NAPA is a more likely source for finding a good/better quality thermostat if you're unwilling to pay for a Mopar. I'd go there and ask for their best quality and it'd probably be fine.
