my 03 wrangler X build

After doing some research and talking with the machine shop, it appears borg warner is potentially selling the same clutch under multiple names, same part numbers.

Not surprising at all, that's pretty common in the auto industry. Really, really common actually.

Here's some more pictures. I have a ton more, I need to get uploaded

206k - all the pistons look like this. Various levels of carbon build up.

Cam had some funky wear. The dark divots are indentations

Engine installed. Not much to see here. I will be spending a few days detailing out the engine bay and painting misc pieces now that the engine is all fresh and clean.

Apologies if you already said this, but who is rebuilding it? I assume you are?

Performance clinic out of beavercreek Ohio did the rebuild. They did all of it. Engine removal and all. I dropped the jeep off to them November 8th. Received it back December 5. They pulled the engine, rebuilt, added new water pump, plugs ect. They also installed a new clutch. Reinstalled engine. I have a bunch of pictures of the build process( the machine shop took them) on a disposable camera, and I have not developed them yet. I also asked for the old parts back so I could document them in my thread.

Very cool that they're taking photos for you and giving you the old parts back. That's something I would ask a shop to do as well, just because I'd like to document it.

Alright fellas , I need some parts recommendations.

I need pre cats, cat and all 02 sensors. Who's got the best prices for what? I'm throwing a p0420 bank 1 code. With a brand new engine, I'd rather just have all fresh exhaust instead of chasing issues with my 206k exhaust.

Here's two options for pre-cats:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049AYRFQ/?tag=wranglerorg-20
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VKXBLE/?tag=wranglerorg-20

Both will work of course. I used the Walker ones when I replaced my pre-cats and I'm very happy with them almost 2 years later.

As for O2 sensors, DO NOT use anything other than NGK / NTK. The Bosch ones and many others are widely documented as having a lot of issues with our TJs.

Here's what I would get (NTK is the OE):

NTK Part # 23139 - Upstream Front
NTK Part # 23138 - Upstream Rear
NTK Part # 23142 - Downstream Front
NTK Part # 23141 - Downstream Rear

Absolutely. No biggy. Is there a gasket that goes between the manifold and Y pipe? How that goes between the down stream cat? I can't seem to find them on rock auto if there is.

Well its a big day. I ordered exhaust full exhaust. Bosal Y pipe, All NTK o2 sensors, Bosal cat, and the dynomax turbo cat back. All from rock auto. Came in at a grand total of 690 shipped with a coupon code.

As a bonus, to ease the pain of making a "non fun" purchase, I splurged and ordered my wheels also. Ordered 5 rubicon xtreme wheels from quadratec. 15x8 in gunmetal grey.

Now the million dollar question is, Will the 4.0 backspace with a 31x10.5 fit my spare tire carrier, without a spacer.

Bumpers were delayed a bit due to some issues with the builders steel supplier. Fit and finish was great. They come raw, so I painted them with some left over Eastwood goodies

Love the integrated hitch

Great photos of the Dirtworx bumpers, thank you. I have been eyeing those for a while, just haven't talked myself into the purchase yet...what are your impressions of these overall? I also was considering the front bumper without the hoop, or possibly a shorter, flatter version without the side tubing. Are there holes in the bumper where the stock fog lamps can mount?

They are quality pieces, handmade by a dude in his garage ( turned manufacturing facility). Robert was very good about communication, and was willing to do whatever I wanted to do to make the bumpers work for me. The wait to get them was a long one, but worth it in the end. No they don't have spots for the factory lights but if you talked with him, I'd bet you could come up with a solution
