My 2004 Optima Red Top Finally Pooped the Bed

18 Years of starts on my Optima Red Top, New engine killed it. I wonder how much longer it would have lasted on old engine. It cost me $160.00 in 04 and every one said I was nuts paying that much. When batts were around $45.00 and lasted 3-4 years. This batt lasted 6 times longer equaling $270.00 at a fixed $45.00 for each batt. It's more like $420.00
My new $69.00 battery warranty is 30 Days, and I hope it lasts 3 years.

Don't buy another Optima. They are no longer the good quality long lasting batteries they used to be since Johnson Controls bought them and moved the entire manufacturing line to Mexico and stopped using pure lead.

Completely agree with Jerry. I bought 3 of the biggest blue tops for my boat. They sucked so bad I went back to conventional batteries and am on the sixth year on them
