All I want to know is, "What are you planning now Rick?" You do know you can't run those 4 tires on your rig, right???!!!! They need to be the same size!

I took a quick trip down to Hawk Pride yesterday with Victor ( @gasiorv ), my Neighbor Thomas and his daughter Amanda. It was just a bit wet - and no traction at all - but a great time. And great to catch up with my good friend Victor and his wife Tonja.

A few vids of the day:

Victor making the wet rocks look easy:

And taking a nasty left turn through a crazy notch - body damage be damned!

And then my turn to enjoy the complete lack of traction.

And my turn at the notch...

It looks dry in the videos, but it was damp from rain earlier in the week, and Friday night. The sun finally came out later in the afternoon, but still a great day wheelin'.

And finally heading back to the parking lot via Maverick late in the day.

Victor is absolutely fearless when it comes to big ledges:

Lots of off camber stuff to navigate - hopefully without laying your top into the rocks.

This was my first opportunity to wheel with the new GPS setup. It worked well, and I was happy with it. Still getting used to the whole tablet thing as compared to a dedicated GPS unit - but overall, I really like it.

A little trail damage along the way. I blew a high-pressure line to the hydro-assist. I took the quick way out and capped off the ports on the steering gear, which only took about 10 minutes. Must faster than fixing the line. Unfortunately, no pictures - but man, you don't realize what Hydo does for you on foodeez until you loose it. Regular power steering is hard!

I do have a photo of my only other trail damage. While pulling my cooler out from the back seat in the dark, I heard a little crunch not realizing what it was - but when the lights came back on...

DAMN.....

So what are yours plans for a replacement head unit?

In all seriousness, Victor is one of the very, very few people I trust completely to spot me in the really tough stuff.

Here I am double pumpkin'd with all four wheels off the ground. I had to be winched off!

Victor - WTF?????

(Just kidding - Victor was not spotting me when I did this to myself. He was, however, very glad to winch me off (all the while laughing hysterically...)

Haven't thought it through yet. I’m still a bit miffed at myself for doing something so stupid.

I can completely understand.....

Insane Audio is OUT.... Now that I'm finally almost down with my Jeep they have gone out of business so I really hope I don't have any issues with my stereo.

Depending on what features you're looking for I can tell you the Alpine ILX-W670 has a very shallow mounting depth.

Looks like SWB and Swampers won the day over LWB and Razr...

I have persoanlly noticed that the Razr MTs don't like to clean themselves very well if there's any amount of clay to the mud.

Love the videos! I need to get back out and start enjoying the trails again!!

Jeff, you said you looked forward to a trail report and I didn't take a single picture. So I put it together the report with words to tell the tale.
Here is my one, or maybe I had 12 or 24 or even 81, Woodford enhanced trip report in your honor.

It was muddy and traction was hard to find
One guy on 40's w/ a Dana 30 snapped a shaft when he got into a bind
Jester proved worthy to give a good laugh.
Then around a loop which was to be lucky
Where a few climbed the waterfall but others took the bypass which proved to also be hard and mucky
Cherokee is short but a real fighter
Up hill both ways the rocks got tighter
Up the creek we go in search of Rambo
The real battle starts here in an Alabama jungle of fear.
With weapons of rubber and clearance and some with horsepower we make it to the top.
It was tight and technical and muddy as such
I had to winch once but never a bypass did my tires touch
Up and over the mountain we went to seek an old friend who broke his foot.
However, this old trail who I used to call friend
Was so muddy and slick that we had to turn before seeing the end.
Out the backdoor and up the rocks we went
This is a tough trail and I was wondering how much friendship I spent.
Then over to K5 for a real surprise
More muddy rock where horsepower and big tires proved to come alive.
My lovely maiden tells all who will listen
If you leave it up to this joker you will need lights that glisten.
So decision was made to hit one more trail
But the joker ensures a few more are included in this tale
Up the waterfall we all did go and then over to timber rattler and the climb went slow
Then what do I see but a sign that says Too Easy
You know with a name like that this one will be fun and sure to please me.
With a little spotting we reach the top
But we haven't hit that last trail so one more before we stop
The entry we seek but it was blocked by rocks
Here even jeeps with 40's can hit diffs and get stuck
We entered maverick with high hopes of one last victory
But soon I was disappointed and hooked to the nearest tree.
Pulled myself through then watched with a smile
While the others made it look easy and mild.
To the top we went where the steeds were loaded and goodbye was said
Until next time, thanks for the invite my friend.

That was awesome, Victor. Who knew you were also a poet? 🙂

I have pictures from Thomas and Amanda as well. I’ll drop them to you today.

Well, all cleaned up (which is saying something with that nasty Alabama clay) and back together.

Now I just have to fix the hydro line….and the stereo. 🙃

Good time of the year to potentially get a good deal on whatever stereo route you decide to go with.
