I have a half door project going on (kind of on-and-off as time permits). I put them on the jeep temporarily and drove to the parts store once and they seemed to have a kind of tinny, hollow sound that I've never noticed with my full doors.

I'm thinking about adding some sound deadening material to the inside before I put the interior panels on for the last time. I've never put sound deadening on anything before. I know there are some holes in the bottom so that the door doesn't hold water, so I know not to cover those up. Should I just apply some sheets of it to the inside of the outside skin of the door? Should I put it anywhere else.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to install it and what to use that doesn't break the bank?

This thread and others like it can help alot. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/sound-deadening-101.17055/#post-464545

But before you read that. Just use Noico from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUIKAK/?tag=wranglerorg-20 And buy good rollers to put it down. We've debated this to death and agree that the Noico stuff is the most economical.

You can also put this stuff down as a heat shield. Even if it's just used over the hump and front tub areas. I'm doing the entire thing to cover the exhaust system as well. And road noise.

When I pulled off the inside panel on my full doors to get at some rust I sprayed the middle section of the outer door skin with cheap spray on bedliner. Just a strip about 8-10" across the center. They don't sound like a Cadillac, but they do sound like a Honda Accord when i close the doors. Nice and quiet with a solid feel. More than i even hoped they could. It's a lot cheaper and easier to do, and I got fantastic results! 👍

I just sound deadened my half doors this past weekend. I disassembled the doors and applied Noico to the inside as much as I could reach and to the surface that the interior panel mounts to. Just make sure you mark all of the locator pins, xmas tree, and screw holes. They sound much sturdier now when closing them. While I had everything apart I installed new handles-in and out, new seals, and door hinge pins.

I bought some of the Noico material and a Noico roller for when the time comes to do it.

Thanks for all the tips everyone.
