Installed the highly recommended Kicker sub in my 05 and it sounds very muffled and cuts out at half volume. I know i prolly need more stuff.

In my 97 i replaced the aftermarket with the stock radio because im restoring back to stock. It sounds great but also cuts out at half volume.

I dont understand crossover and other audio terms and don't know how to match up audio parts much less wire things properly.

Im looking to hire someone to help with this as i dont have the patience and willing to make a drive if need be.

I know i need more stuff, dont know what to get tho. I dont want to rattle the countryside with a boom bass, just want it to work right.

Anyone near Dallas Ft Worth can give me a hand I would greatly appreciate it.

1) which model number is the subwoofer?
2) did you wire it in parallel or series? (if you don't know, take a picture of what you did.)
3) Are you opposed to running it off an amp? All of the wiring will be hidden.

Thanks @toximus.
I'll have to do some looking on the Kicker model number, i threw the box away, I'm ashamed to say.

All I did was hook the factory wire connector to the Kikker wire connector. Idk if that is series or parallel, im really a dunce at this. Id rather be replacing a piston.

Not opposed to running off an amp, I've seen several suggested but again, I'm clueless on all that.

Is your sub in the middle console or in a sealed box for installment in another location?

If you happened to purchase from crutchfield, they send you a wiring diagram (complete with wire colors) and install directions.

Also, I would take pictures of every wire you connected so those of us not in Texas can be as helpful as possible, in the event you can't get someone to come help you in person.

Here’s the wiring diagram. This is for the harness that would go in between the aftermarket radio and the TJ’s factory connections.

I can’t help with troubleshooting the cut out or amp wiring unfortunately. I did an install on mine recently, but it was plug and play components:

Thank you Chad! Appreciate your reposting.
The amp wiring is what's holding me back, I can install everything, np.
I need to hunker down and study to get past the intimidation factor. ☺

They both have the stock head unit now, which seems to have plenty of power till i turn it loud , then cuts out and goes silent.
Both tjs do this with stock radios. Only the 05 has the Kikker sub. Going to study some wiring diagrams.
