Never doing mud again

I'm just gonna buy a powerwasher, suit up and get under the rig in my driveway and spray every book and cranny, and go in and take a shower.

We were wheeling in mud. We stayed out of the cropland where the manure got spread. If we were to wheel on the cropland, we would have been banned by my friend's father...".......my buddy's dairy farm." It wasn't the mud that got you banned
Gotcha. Go to the Keramas while you are there at least once before you leave. Trust me.

Texas/Oklahoma panhandle feedlot wheeling competitions offer their own flavor of entertainment. Rules require TJ drivers to disconnect after entering the venue. Videographers are encouraged to use telephoto lenses.
I own a power washer and have used those at the coin-op carwashes. The mud in my area has something in it, a high clay content I have been told, that makes it nearly impervious to even the force of either of them. It's a real bitch to get my local mud off once it has dried.

You can run a hose on jet stream setting under the fenders, and still find mud under there.
Gotta be that caliche clay.
Old school mud remover… park in your yard, put this under your jeep on full, go out occasionally and move it around. Mud is mostly gone in a few hours and your yard gets a nice infusion of minerals and water

Southwestern Utah's calcium Bentonite clay is the worst to remove. "Bentonite consists chiefly of crystalline clay minerals belonging to the smectite group, which are hydrous aluminum silicates containing iron and magnesium as well as either sodium or calcium". Unlike sodium Bentonite which expands with water and hence is easier to power wash; calcium Bentonite is a desiccant that hinders fluid and gas penetration. You cannot effectively pressure wash it off expecting it not to leave a film. To remove calcium Bentonite film you must rub it off while spraying with diluted hydrofluoric acid then thoroughly rinse. Curiously, if you use hydrofluoric acid while suffering from depression; and if you happen to accidentally breathe a little in, you may notice a temporary lifting of your depression bringing on a sense of well being and emotional stability. Roughnecks use calcium Bentonite to both seal and lubricate (because of the lead in it) drilling shafts. Being a great sealant and moisture barrier, after power washing the bulk clay, I happily leave the film residue on my engine and wiring without regrets. I've also noticed that R134a stays in a lot longer.

I went wheeling last week on 3 different days and did nothing about the mud and my forest green TJ looked like it was light brown. Sunday night almost three inches of rain fell and the TJ is forest green again, at least the body is.....
The problem with mud is it keeps sand and other debris up against moving parts as well as traps moisture- Think of it as liquid sandpaper.
