First timer here. Picked up a new to me 2006 Jeep in January…first Jeep ever. Pretty happy so far. Took top down last week first time. Hoping there is a fellow Houstonian around who can show me the easy way to get soft top back on correctly and easier than I managed by myself.
Had extra key made last week. Became somewhat alarmed when locksmith told me $9 for a new key. Normally happy to hear a nice low price like that but then I realized that it’s not a smart key of any kind and that this Jeep could easily be stolen with a big screwdriver. Have since added a few items to make the Jeep a little tougher to steal. I had 2 vehicles stolen from my address in 2022. However I got them both back because I suspected that the vehicles could be targeted and I’m a sneaky bastard with too much free time.
I googled steering lock to see if the steering wheel can be turned slightly after parking the Jeep to lock the steering column in its current position until a key is used to unlock it. I thought that would be helpful but i cannot get the steering wheel to lock when I’m parked and attempt to lock it. This is a manual transmission Jeep so backing in to my parking space and locking the steering wheel makes it a pain to try to push the car out of where it is parked.
I installed a new stereo and speakers yesterday so if anyone is super into bone stock parts, I have a complete Jeep stereo including 4 speakers, the head unit, and the factory stereo/HVAC enclosure and they are in perfect condition…not a scratch.
For some cars, I’ve been told it’s important to keep original parts when modifying the car, but this Jeep has already been heavily modified by first owner so I am not sure it’s worth keeping them. If there is a local Jeep owner that would like these parts to install on their vehicle, I would give them to a good home. I live in Houston. Contact me if interested. Just don’t eBay them.
Duck on my door? Por que? Lol.
Someone placed a duck on the door of my Jeep while it was parked in a parking garage. I gave the security guard a few bucks to play back the video in the garage and turns out it was two chicas in a blue Jeep. So thanks for the duck?
I googled local Jeep club Houston. It says they meet up 1st Saturday of month not far away so maybe I can get a Jeep sort top lesson there from a fellow owner. Looking forward to learning a bit more about this Jeep.
Best regards,
RB
