New member here and this is my first post. Anyways I am not new to Jeeps and have had many over the years but they were all leaf spring suspensions, and this is my first TJ. It is a 2006 Jeep TJ Sport model that I recently purchased. The Jeep came with the Zone offroad combo lift in it, which is the 1.25" body lift and a 3" suspension lift. It is a pretty basic lift that does the job, but I am not happy with the ride as it seems pretty sloppy. The lift never came with new control arms and I think the factory ones have worn bushings. I've already changed both front and rear track bar bushings. So what I was thinking about doing was either buying new aftermarket front and rear control arms that are beefier, or buying possibly a new 4" lift that comes with everything I need to replace the suspension that is currently in there, like the Zone 4" inch kit. So my question is can I just put aftermarket control arms on? and also if I choose to just buy a new lift to replace what is in there do you think that would help with the sloppy feel on the road? It doesn't yet have the SYE, but it is coming, it currently has the motor mount lift that came with the Zone combo lift. I am running 33" tires on it now, but may go to 35's when I need to replace them next year. I don't beat on this Jeep or take it off-road very much, but will use it occasionally to hunt or fish. It is not my daily driver, but more of a fun vehicle. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Adjustable control arms and track bars aren't a bad idea to augment the Zone kit. That way you will be a step closer to fitting the SYE and double cardan rear drive shaft. And you can correct the wheel base and the drive lines as they are now.

The sloppy ride may very likely be a shock issue. They might be worn out or they might just be a sloppy shock.

110% agree. I doubt the springs are the cause of the sloppy feel. Shocks and bushings can though. Also check all steering components for any slop.

I got that lift but I opted for the fox shocks. My ride quality is good. A lot of people recommend the rancho shocks so I would check them out. Also ride quality comes down to tire pressures and load rating on the tire. Look into that. I installed aftermarket control arms in my Jeep and I didn’t get any improvement in ride quality. I mainly did it for more articulation . I do have a aftermarket track bar for the front too though

Also I would like to add that I thought my control arm bushings where bad. I thought I saw some cracks in the rubber but when I actually ended up pulling them out and inspected them, there was nothing actually wrong with them. This is a 95000 mile Jeep from Pennsylvania. My last Jeep I went 230,000 miles on the factory control arms no problems

OK, thanks for the replies, just wanted to know where to start and what to look for. It is a 2006 TJ Sport with 134000 KM's
