New to me wrangler

One thing I do need help with, the tailgate has alot of slack in it when opened. What do I need to do to fix it?

When you open it you can feel it drop, have to pick up on it to get it to latch

Sounds like you need new hinges. I helped a friend replace his. It was a major pain. Being in WVa though, might not be too bad. I'm in Michigan, and all the bolts needed to be drilled out.

I'm going to replace the bumpers so I'll probably just get me a bumper with tire swing out

That will hold your tire, but the hinges to the tailgate are still shot, I'm afraid.

I was going to replace the hinges eventually to, just wanting a bumper that can hold a little bigger tire also
