New Tool Day

I like a pencil-tip butane torch for heating fasteners. Just direct it to the head or other end. The big advantage over an induction heater is it works on fasteners with no protrusion and broken-off fasteners.

I think I have one if those hiding somewhere. I'll have to find it as I've had a few that broke before I gave up and had nothing left sticking out as well.

I've never seen an induction heater before. Do you have more info on it?
Search for induction bolt heater on Amazon. It uses induction to heat anything ferrous you can fit in its coil. Mostly bolts-sized things. Mine came with three different sized coils. Does not heat the surrounding area except via conduction from the thing you're heating, so a little safer than flames or a welding arc. You can also bend the legs of the coil and get it in the same space as a box wrench if you need to.

Now that I’ve got some gone thru the M18 door for the inflator and vacuum, why not cut the cord with a grinder?

These may not be tools but certainly appeal to those with organizational inclinations. $18.99 at Costco for the set, well below the cost for per unit than on Amazon.

Jeep won’t fit in the garage, so too much of my work is dependent on the weather. Picked this up on Black Friday for $60

Dang that was a good deal. I have a 10x10 and when I went to do my sound system install it rained all week so I set it up and it was great. Mine is getting kind of rickety and will need to replace it at some point when it finally breaks. If I would have seen that for $60 I would have ordered one in a heartbeat. Are those weight bags on the corners and were they included?

I love those Wrap-It’s. I use them for my winch control cable, tree strap, jumper cables, etc…

It happened to me years ago. I was in the garage staining a Murphy bed I had built. My wife called me in for lunch, and I left the oil-based stain-soaked rag balled up. I got sidetracked, and by the time I returned to the garage, the rag was smoldering.

In a similar vein, I remember several barn fires in the area while growing up in Wisconsin dairy country. Hay cut and put up in the loft with too much moisture, or with a leaky barn roof, will spontaneously combust during the heat of summer, too. It was always sad seeing a neighbor lose his winter feed and his barn...
