Hello, I’m new to buying lockers and what not, I’m curious to know when I go to buy gear sets and lockers if it’s just the ring gear and pinion gear I’ll need to purchase and the locker itself. Any help would be appreciated

Get the shop that installs the locker to purchase so that they’ll cover any problems.

Study up on what you want. ARB and Eaton E-Locker are your top choices. Don’t forget new axle shafts. Regear while they’re in there. Don’t lock a Dana 35.

Unless you upgrade it to a super 35 with 30 spline 1541 alloy axle shafts. Revolution gear and axle is the brand of choice for this.

Yes. Super 35, but don’t lock a Dana 35 wit an auto locker or 27 spline full case locker without doing all the Super stuff.

I’m going to a 14 bolt rear with a dana 60 front, wanting 4.88 gears and Detroit locker. I’m aware I’ll need a master install kit, was just curious for hearing and locker wise was just a ring and pinion gear, and then locker of choice was needed along with the install kit

What’s the engine? What’s the deepest gears you can go? Stretch?

4.0 5 speed, and yes, stretched. However what I’m still hinting at, is do I just need to buy ring and pinion gears, and choice of locker? Along with master install kit for the gear swap I’m trying to do.

Ring and pinion gears (4.88 won’t cut it)
Full case lockers
Chromoly Axle shafts
Axle seals

FWIW, I upgraded two years ago:

Yukon Gear & Axle Front & Rear Ring and Pinion kit - Dana 30 Front / Dana 35 Rear - 4.56 gear ratio (from 3.73)
Part # YGK005
www.yukongear.com/shop/ygk005

EATON 912A569 Trutrac Limited Slip Differential for 27 Spline Dana 35 Axle with 3.54
Part # 912A569

Thanks to @Jerry Bransford 's direction: at 4.56, the fun returned — a noticeable performance boost for the dinky 2.4L. Essentially, I'm one gear higher throughout the range - highway: used to be at 2400+- RPMs in 5th @, say, 55-60mph — I'm now comfortably cruising in 6th, 2400+- RPMs @ 65mph. Before, I often enough wouldn't see 6th on the highway because I never had the power to maintain, especially into the wind or uphill.
