There is a two part solution for that. We need to stop using the brine on the road ways, and vehicle manufacturers need to use a better quality steel and undercoating.

I looked at 5 TJ’s yesterday, one was a Rubicon, and none had rust on the frame. I was down on my hands and knees looking and probing for it. Of course we don’t use salt on the road here during winter. So not all northern areas are using salt.

The best thing you can do is visit it in person as you did and really investigate it with a fine tooth comb if you plan on keeping it long term.
