The funny thing about the ham test / information is it doesn't really tell you that well how to use it at a radio level, it more covers what happens behind the scenes and how it "works".
Yes to Saturday dinner for me since it will be a day run.

Other thread said this is a good hand held CB. Was planning to order this for the trip unless anyone thinks it’s not good. I won’t have time to get a permanent CB installed before the trip with the other things I am trying to get done and figure this will be nice to have for a loaner or possible spotter use.

My wife, 2 years old, and I are game for dinner Sat. Gia (my stepdaughter) may want to hang out with her grandma in Sac.
You're not going to get great range with the rubber duck antenna but I wouldn't be surprised if you come out clearer than @Thunderhead. (I have no clue on the quality of that radio)

If you don’t need to spend the money just pass on that thing. We won’t be doing anything we can’t roll the windows down to hear each other.
If you want to pick it up and see how it does it might be just as good as a permanent CB

It has decent range for a hand held, and is half the cost. I usually bring it for a spare for someone, or for spotting.

I think I’m going to book my camp site Saturday night although I still plan on leaving after the run. That way I don’t have to worry about tearing down camp in the morning.
