When I bought my tj 2 years ago, oil pressure was always pegged at 80 so I finally got around to replacing sending unit 2 weeks ago. After replacing with RockAuto (apparently junk) https://www.rockauto.com/en/partsearch/?partnum=ps317 , I had oil come out through sending unit itself. Scared the crap out of me when I saw the trail of oil but only ended up losing about a half quart. (Plug failed a couple yards from my house.). I saw on the forum that this is common for cheap sending units so I decided to order mopar part number

05149064AB

. This worked perfectly for about 3 days and now my oil pressure is back pegged at 80. Was hovering around 40-60 for the first three days. Did my new sending unit burn up now? If so, what could cause this?

Where did you get it from? Could be a fake. Or it could just be that MOPAR is selling Chinese junk too. 2 yr warranty on MOPAR IIRC.

Get an oil pressure test gauge if you want to know what the actual pressure is.

I had the exact same issue with my Mopar purchased through RockAuto, worked fine for 250km then maxed out on the gauge.
I’ve now gone tried Standard Motor Products, Mopar, and now currently have a NAPA. So far so good but haven’t but a ton of miles on it, the NAPA does have a 3 year warranty and is made in the US. The Mopar I got from RockAuto was made in Mexico.
