I'm wondering if my Oil pump is going bad. I have a 2000 TJ 4.0. Lately when I crank it it takes a good 5 seconds to build pressure and the "check gauges" light comes on. During idle it runs around 10psi... On interstate it won't go past 20psi even at 25-2600 rpm. I'm also getting some ticking when I first crank. Oil level is good. Advice is appreciated

Connect a separate oil pressure gauge at the oil pressure sending unit port and determine what the pressure actually is.
I believe you can rent a pressure gauge at AutoZone or similar auto parts store.
When was the last time the oil filter was replaced and what oil filter is presently installed ?

It's a fram and last oil change probably 6 months ago...I don't drive it much. That's a good place to start though
