Hello there, I have a 2003 tj 4.0L. The check engine light came on and is reading p0124 throttle / pedal position sensor / switch A circuit high. I have read some of the previous threads and saw a few things but I am still not to sure what to do to fix this. If anyone knows what to do and have a link to parts it would be a huge help. Thanks!

Same issue with the P0123. You can smell it running rich and has a loss of power. I changed the clockspring and it needed it, i had lost the horn and cruise control. Changed the TPS to a Mopar part and the wire connector to it because it was a little frayed. My next thought is that i am missing a ground somewhere.

Did you clean the TPS passage in the throttle body?

Where the sensor goes into no. I sprayed and wiped the insides of the throttle body around the butterfly but i have never had any gunk their in 20 years.

Might want to try this ...

Where did you source that back probe T pin? That's a lot nicer for than the collection of paper clips and needles I've been using.

Thanks. now i am thinking that my replacement connector might have a bad splice on it. Which would be about right for an electrician to screw that up!

Report back with your findings and I’ll help you with further steps. Play with your T pin if you get zero volts on the signal. It can take some holding your tongue the right way to get a good connection.

Found the problem. On top of the other issues the cheap butt splices that came with my new connector were not holding very good and I had the pin out wrong because it seems like mine is different with the source to ground being pin 1 and the signal at pin 2 (middle)
