If you've clicked on this, you probably know how the part works already, but I've been diagnosing and have run into a troublesome issue...

My panel door actuator is messed up in a way that prevents me from installing the new part. I ordered part numbers 17910.01 and 17910.02 to be safe. These are the plastic pieces that snap into the heater-A/C housing and then connect to your actual actuator with the vacuum lines. My ac will only go through my floor vents and defrost, but not the face vents. I've pulled the old part out and it was broken. Not only was it broken but someone had also drilled the accuator into housing, thereby destroying the teeth that the put fit plastic part mounts into.

My question after all this is: Can I avoid buying the entire housing and removing the entire dash, or do I just have to suck it up?

I had one that would always break off the locking tab that holds it in. I ended up putting black RTV on the star shaped area and stuck it in place. let it sit for a day and set up, but hand rotate it every once in a while to make sure it doesn't glue together parts you don't want to stick. dont go crazy with the RTV just brush on enough to hold it in place.
