Panel LPS fuse 12 no power

I'm gonna call it a night before I set fire to this thing. Thanks for all the help Daryl. I appreciate your patience with me.
I’m using a ‘98 wiring diagram and you have a ‘97. All the wire colors may not be the same. Makes it a little more time consuming, but we’ll get through it. Hang in there. Good night.

Hey Daryl, sorry just got back to the jeep. According to the manual

fuse 12 runs a orange and a tan wire from it. The orange runs to the radio but the tan runs to the headlight switch. I wonder if this is the root of the problem...

Yay, you found the problem! Now you know what caused the “popping” sound. I would get a repair pigtail to replace that connector. Remove your headlight switch and inspect it. The heat could have damaged it also.

Well I guess fuse 12 only gets power when the headlight switch is on. So I turned them on and have power at that fuse...
So I've started at the fuse box under hood. The underhood lamp doesn't work so I unplugged it and I'm only getting 1.6v from that connector.

Also have discovered....
So fuse 17 under the hood has 12v in each leg. Tracing from that I go to connector 108 and found the pk/wt wire in spot D12.

I'm only getting 3.3v from that.

Well finally found it... pk/wt wire from the fuse box was broken. Had to unwrap half the damn wiring harness to find it. Man that was some grief!!!View attachment 167167
Good job! Just think about how much more familiar you are with your TJ’s wiring. They really are simple when you break down the system into the individual circuits. Without an accurate wiring diagram it’s much more difficult.
