Piss & Moan Table

Shrimp ceviche you say, just made this now….chilling in frig.

I cheat and used cooked frozen shrimp and thaw to start, safer that way, love this stuff.

Nice
I am a multicultural man myself
I dab in all sorts cooking and do ok

But … I want my Chinese food cooked by a Chinaman and my ceviche made by someone south of the border… for best results

Damn I was just going to post in this thread.

We have a small liquor store in town, ran over to get a 12pk of Yeungling.

The worker (I don’t go in often so I don’t know if he’s new) anyway has ear buds in and is engrossed in conversation (Arabic) while I’m checking out.

It’s not like they’re that busy with customers, I was the only one there.

How about STFU for the 25 seconds it takes to check a patron out?

So here is a strange one. I bought something on Newegg (computer parts) and it looks like it was a scam.

I bought a Samsung NVME that was listed for $80 which is way below what it normally goes for. It's currently $136. Everything looked normal, I got a Fedex tracking number for it. It showed delivered last Friday. Since we have mail theft problems, I got a mailbox from a local place. It's just him and his wife. I stopped by on Monday and asked where it was. Fedex delivery shows 2:50 PM, but they didn't receive it. He ends up pulling up the camera footage: Fedex didn't deliver until after 4PM that day.

I call Newegg and they mention 'that vendor is no longer active' and gave me a refund right away. So for one, I didn't realize I wasn't buying from Newegg. I get scamming and taking my money, but don't understand how they made something go through the Fedex system and then get marked as delivered and signed for. I guess the scammer has paid off someone at Fedex?

Anyway, glad I got my money back. I'll have to buy another drive.

had read online the first "all are welcome" car show of the year was in town tonight (y) decided to go do a looksie after finishing up yard work.

Nothing but underbody lights, rev limiting exhaust and subwoofers + huge parking lot party. (n) decided to go grocery shopping instead.

read there was some drama last year and this group was kicked out of the weekly car show for exactly what I was seeing. surprised the red and blue lights weren't there yet sending people home. damn kids :ROFLMAO:

(y) car show is on tonight. probably 4 miles west of me.. bunch of Honda kids and such. driveway camera just picked one of em.

I feel your pain. We live on a dead end road, and two houses down has a Facebook woman selling crap. We have a constant flow of anything from corvettes, suvs, to vehicles that barely scrape down the road. It’s against the covenants of the subdivision but yet it goes on.

since when did it require a obd2 computer to do a simple brake job.

figured id pick up a full front/rear brake job for some side cash... turned out I had to do the labor for free after needing to purchase a $$ tool to retract the rear electronic parking brake in order to replace the pads and rotors.

oh well, guess ill have the tool from this point forward. guess thats the best way to look at it since all the modern cars have all the special additional MSRP cost bells and whistles.

What vehicle? I did the daughters Mazda and purchased a $50 brake tool kit to get it done. Could’ve rented one but what’s the fun of that?
My Ram has an electric parking brake, but it of course engages and releases with the push of a button.

Was a 18 Chevy Traverse.

the electronic parking brake was loose enough to pull the caliper off with the epb released at the switch but I didnt want to mess with disassembling the servo motor off the rear and manually spinning the screw back out then having the computer complain about some sort of fault later down the road.

I had already rented the $50 caliper piston compressing tool from the local auto parts store as I dont have a c clamp large enough for the job.

theres a few different types of electronic parking brakes from what ive read. cable driven and direct drive. this was a direct drive version mounted right to the caliper. appears to be a screw that threads into the rear of the caliper pushing the piston out when you push the parking brake switch. I needed the computer to back the screw all the way back so I could then push in the piston manually without damaging the servo motor or caliper internals. kinda silly in my opinion.

talked to my dad about it.. he said his car kept throwing error codes after replacing the battery in his own car. he had to buy a scan tool to reset the battery in the ecu to tell it the battery was replaced and everything been peachy since.

seems like anymore any work you do on more recent new models almost force you to have to take it to a dealer/shop. kinda puts you in that position where your trying to scrape by then shit hits the fan and after you figure what parts, your time & the cost of a tool to do a simple job turns in to... you might as well just take it in and have someone else do it for the same price.

using the tool was pretty interesting though. got to the brake settings in the menu and selected retract epb and you could hear the rear brakes little motors winding back in from the back of the car with the brake icon on the dash blinking. finished up the job and selected extend and again the little electric motors spooling them back out and the blinking light on the dash went away.

Until you realize what hourly shop rates are these days...

An electric parking brake. Yet another gimmick that's an answer to a question nobody was asking. Shit. I had no idea things had gotten this stupid.

It takes a lot of effort to raise your foot up and mash down a parking brake. Even more to take your smartphone hand off the smartphone and pull up a hand brake. What do you really expect from this generation of drivers. Saw where the newest nanny control is automatic braking if something stops in front of you. Supposed to save 28,000 rearend collisions a year.

exactly. boss paid $585 just for rear rotors and pads at the dealer the other day. figure it must be about $90/hr 🤷‍♂️ I havent taken anything into a shop in probably 15 years.

dont forget lane assist so you can continue playing with your phone updating your social media status while in route.

im not one for all these added features, give me something that drives and that I can work on it without returning to a dealer/shop for simple maintenance. oops, my bad.. how's the dealer gonna make any money that way. this current driving age generation doesn't want to drive anyways.. not sure where auto mfgs are trying to aim the market at. read a article a few weeks back that was discussing all the knobless touch screen controls on the dash and that vehicle shoppers and owners are becoming frustrated that simply adjusting the radio station, blower speed or temperature involves multiple taps through menus to just get to the point and road safety testing is showing that your distracted much longer because you cant feel for anything.. you physically need to look down.

recently ended up with a 3/4 ton 2019 work truck and the only fancy feature I actually like is the front mounted bumper camera... the damn truck is too f'n big and I still have no idea where the front end is when parking in a parking lot after 2 months of use. im about 6'2" and the top of the ladder rack is too high to comfortably use and forget about reaching for anything in the bed of the truck... guess thats why theres a fold down ladder built into the tailgate (which I dont use) that is a bitch to get out due to dirt and crap stuck down inside the sliders.

and forget about reaching for anything in the bed of the truck

This is why I'm rebuilding the 03 Dmax. The seats are more confortable and the bed isnt shoulder high.
I'm driving my 2015 which dont really like as well as the '03 since its only got 56K miles on it.

I still think about my 04 Dmax almost every time I drive my 14. I'd go back to that gen in a heartbeat.

One of my biggest pet peeves is if I tell you something like it's raining out don't tell me it's not.

Yesterday I had to have a second MRI. This one will be more in depth they said. I get there park go up to the automatic double doors they don't open.

I drive to the other side of the building try the double doors won't open. I call the number for the MRI place get we are open Monday through Friday blah blah.

I look sure enough I'm supposed to be there on Saturday, and on the doors it says 8 to 5 on Saturday.

I drive around the building again and there is a woman standing by the door I tried first. I park go up to her she said she works there came out to her car now she can't get in.

She said she called no one would answer. So while we were talking about how to get in a woman was coming out. We told her the doors won't work. She stepped forward the doors open. She tells us see they work fine.

Well it took awhile to explain, and we had to show her the doors won't open from outside. I thought we were going to have to use crayons and draw pictures on the floor.

I said this has been fun but I need to go. I go to the desk tell the woman who I was then told her the doors don't work. Then she told me how she checked the doors ten minutes ago and they work fine blah blah blah.

The woman I was stuck outside with comes in, I walk over tell her the woman at the desk gave me a tongue whipping because the doors work.

She says I work with that bitch I'll fix her ass. She had her stand outside then told her to come in. She let her in after awhile then told her to post a sign with a number that works.

I get called in, I get changed, a woman comes in says did you have a MRI a week ago? Yes

Well rather than looking at the new order they looked at the old one. We can't do the MRI you need today because there isn't a doctor here on Saturday.

Errrr.

Why do all the young girls/women (some old ones too), many already beautiful feel the need to get their lips pumped up to look like they kissed a hot muffler…..I am old I know but I don’t get it.

They are with guys who lack in a certain area so they do that to get a better seal.

My wife's 2016 MB c300 needs to have the rear calipers retracted through the OBD2 port. Luckily I have a friend with a snap on machine for that.
