Piss & Moan Table

Still 125,000 without power. Our lines are underground so power comes on faster on the west side of the city. They reconnect a couple main lines and a substation and turn us back on. On the east side they need to check the overhead lines on all the houses to make sure they are up.

I got my two trees cut down into loadable piles. The neigbor's tree takes up a third of the pile on the street (upper left) and their 3rd car driveway spot. The pile in my 3rd car driveway is 5-6ft tall. The bundled branches on the street are 2 wide and 3 tall so far. The city may come get them or we'll pay the neighbor kid to haul them away. He has a landscaping business. The drop off sites are multi hours long waits.

I couldn't sleep last night after massive leg cramps, a calf cramp, and a bicep cramp. I must be 55, and should limit my continuous chainsawing and wood stacking to 8 hours a day. But today was supposed to be hot so I wanted to get most of it done. Thank god I've been working out 4 to 6 days a week since January.

I feel your pain, man. I've never personally lost trees like that to wind, but I have to ice. I had a nice shaded yard due to a couple of really big mature trees in the back and one in the front at the first house I ever bought. An ice storm came through a month after I closed and completely devastated the trees. I had a similar amount of wood to deal with as what you have, even with the main trunks of the trees and a few big limbs still standing. They limped along for a few years, providing much less shade and looking pretty pathetic. Last time I passed through that area I drove by and all 3 trees are gone.

Did you cut it all up with an electric chainsaw?

24" Echo Timber Wolf, 2 stroke chainsaw.

I bought it when another tree broke off in a windstorm and qoutes to remove it were in the thousands. I'm glad I went big.

I'm not planting any more trees here. The 2 that fell were the last 2 original trees I put in when we bought the house in 2002. Every tree has been replaced now because of storm or bug damage.

I'm may build a cover for our back patio instead. If I plant something, it will be a native oak. It won't be big enough for me to enjoy, but will likely be here in 100 years.

Got back from vacation last night. Mowed the lawn this morning and discovered a yellow jacket nest the hard way by running over it with the mower. Fuckers got me good around my ankles. Even chased me after I was well out of the area and got me more. They are going to die tonight after work. Can't take Benadryl because work though which is supposed to help.

This isn't really a "piss and moan", more of a "I don't get why they don't..." type thing. Why do so many parking lots have what I call "old fashioned head-in parking" instead of angled? Yea, I get it that you lose one parking place per row with angled, so small lots might make sense to have straight stalls; but lots at most grocery stores, home depot, etc, etc are HUGE but are often not angled. *SHRUG* Don't get it...

There are still around 50,000 meter customers without power here.

We've been up early to beat the heat the last couple days.

3 new piles across the street and one guy spent half a day hauling his little branch pike to the drop off site.

3-4 hour wait in line there.

If I ever meet the asshole who engineered the method of door handle attachment on these Jeeps, I will stomp him/her like a narc at a biker rally and finish things off by fisting a handful of serrated steel wedges up their ass repeatedly.

I can think of at least a half dozen other, simpler, better ways to do the same task off the top of my head without trying that hard. The least they could've done was give better access to the damn things (turns out a hole saw is my friend ;)). Dicks.

I feel slightly better now. :)

Haven't been to a movie theater in i don't know how many years.

There's a town 15 Miles south of us there is an awesome art deco movie theatre that was bought by a non profit and completely restored. Adult tickets $6. Concessions reasonable. Excellent experience.

The Piss & Moan:
Twisters was playing. Near the beginning as the view was thru the windshield looking at the driver chasing the storm you see a CB radio laying on the dash. The power cord is draped across and might be attached but it was clearly missing the antenna wire. Then he grabs the mic and talks on it. :ROFLMAO:

I just kept looking for other miscues, I guess I'm too damn cynical.

I wonder if either toothpaste or tobacco would help on yellow jacket stings. I've had both on regular wasp/bee stings and it seemed to help. Worst sting I ever had was in my tear duct. I guess I'm lucky it didn't hit my eye or I would have lost my dominate eye.

It's always made me wonder WHY?? The total apathy of people who can't take 5 minutes out of their day to fill out a ballot. And here in WA you have a mail in ballot so you don't have to go to a polling station to vote. These were the figures as of 4 days ago with today being the day ballots were due. So I do know many wait until the last minute to mail in their ballots.

And this was yesterday..

A dismal 20% of ballots returned? WTF???

In 2004 in Iraq during their first elections when people were being blown up or shot while standing in line they had a 97% turnout.... It's pretty sad.

Because most Americans are lazy entitled fucks anymore. I have several coworkers on the extreme ends of political spectrum who rant and rave all the time but say they didn't vote because it's pointless. I tell them to shut their pie holes about their political opinions to me until they vote. Otherwise they are just like all the other trash, thinking they are some kind of warrior for their cause by re-tweeting/FB posting from their favorite echo chamber.

The commercials say “Ask your Dr”. I asked my Dr if anyone ever asked about meds they saw in an ad and he said he never had been asked. Many drug ads never tell you what they are for.
