PRP Seat Material Durability

I am looking into a set of PRP Enduro Elites, prefer to save the money and get one of the standard sets you see on many different parts sites since I would be happy with just plain black. The 2 options they have are tweed and vinyl. I was wondering if anyone had experience between the 2 and how well they hold up, especially on the sides of the bottoms where I have tended to slide over the edge of the seat to get in. I really like the idea of the tweed when I make longer trips to help with sweating. I do not think the standard options come with tweed centers and vinyl "perimeter" on the seat face which would be preferred. But I am concerned the tweed would fray on the edges eventually.

I think the other downside to the tweed is the Jeep this will be going in is my summer daily where the top is always down and there is the occasional pop-up shower that catches me off guard before I can get the top folded back up so the seats may get some rain exposure on occasion. Any experience with how water proof and UV proof the tweed is since at work it sits outside exposed to the sun?

Tweed has been great, very durable and easy to clean. Vinyl has been a nightmare. It looks great but anything with a sharpish edge will put a hole through it.

That is good to know since I always carry a pocket knife in my pocket and its has caught on my seats before. Luckily not cut them

If you want to save more money look at the Mastercraft Baja RS, been very happy with mine.

I got the vinyl on my PRP Enduro seats and like them. I know of 5-6 sets of vinyl PRP Enduro's that get abused off road almost weekly and they all have held up great.

I had a chance to sit in both and the Enduros were way more comfortable to me. I also liked the lower profile bottom bolsters. I usually get in by sticking my right leg into the cab and sliding myself over without using the stepbar. What ever seats I get I am going to lower them to the same height as an 03-06 since I prefer the stock seat height of my LJ compared to my 2000 TJ thats getting the new seats.

That's how I usually get into my LJ but right now I'm running them higher than the 03-06 seat height because I never took my spacers out. Love it on the trail sucks for commuting. I liked the Mastercraft due to the minimal bolster but it still has the bolster to keep me in place.

I plan on getting a bolt on harness bar and some 4.3 harnesses to help keep me in place when I really need it but can stick to a regular seatbelt when just going to work and other daily tasks. My last trip to Silverlake made me realize I really need to invest in some suspension seats and maybe some shock tuning after being a little too confident and landing really hard the first night off some of the whoops. In that case, we both were raised above the seat and slammed pretty hard. I had some back problems that night and the GF had them the whole trip. When the GF went to get a massage like a week later, the therapist asked she was in a crash recently and said she might have some rib damage and to get it looked at....so time to re-evaluate the seating situation. I feel like staying firm in a suspension seat will make dune trips more enjoyable and comfortable.

Seats make a huge difference. I knew I felt better after days of wheeling once I got them but it was evident when I bought the second Jeep and road-tripped it home 17 hours couldn’t wait to get out of it.

One of the PRP dealers had a 20% off deal going so ended up ordering the tweed black seats, brackets, 4.3 harness and harness bar. Ended up being under $2k with shipping and taxes for it all. I might look to see if there are some water proof seat covers I can stick over them when needed down the line, but I am excited!

Happy with my PRP Tweed seats. Ended up going with the Summit. Went to an offroad show to try them all out and they were offerring a good discount.

My only complaint is when the fabricator mounted them with the cage, they lean back a bit too much. So might eventually have that changed. First few trips I didn't like it, but seemed to get used to it.

I went with the 5.3 harnesses and have 1 available if anyone needs one. Thought I was going to keep my back seat in. Just wasn't going to work with the harness bar and the seats.

I am wondering if there is any insight to a 4.2 vs 4.3 harness I might be overlooking? I will get the “lever” style latch on either I choose. Is there some kind of comfort benefit over the other? I can still change my order at this point to a 4.2.

I have the above, a 5.3 (5 point). which is 3" lap, 2" shoulders. From my research, that is the most comfortable and provides appropriate protection.

I think thats all there is, but would somehow a 2in wide be more comfortable than a 3in. Would the 3in not fit for some reason, etc. There is always some kind if details I overlook during researching something I find out later.

More of a comfort thing. When I got mine, they said most prefer 3" belt, 2" shoulders.

Well got my seats in and there was small gash at the top and only 1 harness and 1 adapter came in. Not super happy about that. Im fairly certain the cut was a shipper issue, not PRP or the dealer since multiple boxes in the order had damage, the missing brackets and harness is likely a clerical error since the emailed invoice and shipping invoice show different. But I am working with customer service and this will get fixed regardless so is what it is. Loosely testing the harness I might get a 2in shoulder belt version as well, but im going to wait until I have a seat installed with the rockhard harness bar to find out how it actually feels.

I didn't think I'd like the way the center of the lower seat was humped up in the middle, but now riding in my Silverado or the wife's Equinox it feels weird without it.

In excited! So we worked out a deal where they will refund a decent amount of the money and I just keep it them as-is, so I can live with that. So tomorrow ill start putting the driver side in. Loosely measuring things it seems like the height of seat bottom to floor will be about the same as the 97-02 seats using the adapter on stock brackets so I can live with that. But I am working on a design for new seat bases to lower to about 03-06 height which I have found my self to prefer and ill probably integrate the lap belt mount to the new bases on the side. I figured at this point the TJ going forward will be 2 seater only so no need for fold and tumble and the LJ and Honda Fit will be my passenger going vehicles.

Definitly needs to come down 2in but happy with the way it looks! I do however wish I got the customized seat with extended headrest option. I might see if its possible to raise the back section higher on the recliner bracket. At this point I got the seats cheap enough I am not too worried about modifying them. I got a decent way to mount the lap belts, but when I make a new seat base ill add a double shear provision for the lap belts. Just waiting on the other harness and adapter to put in the other seat.
