psrivats' 2005 TJ Rubicon mild build

And it took 2 minutes at the shop to get this done. The top should come off now without any difficulty.

I also got my winch refurbished at Warn today. Their headquarters is in Clackamas, Oregon and I went to their service center, about 1h from me.

I had bought the M8000 used (it's ~20y old per the service guy) and the motor was making a lot of noise and sadly was not in good shape. They bought it back to life. I have the TRE setup in the front to go with it. This will last me forever.

I'll relocate the solenoid pack inside the engine bay later.

You got to love warn for still fixing let alone having parts for a 20 year old winch. Looks great.

Here's a picture of my phone mount. Thanks to @PCO6 for the inspiration and guidance. I used B-sized hardware from RAM mounts. The ball mount at the right side of the socket is magnetic (with strong neodymium magnets). The interior of my phone chase has a thin metal piece stuck on and it's easy to take on and off. That said, it's also very sturdy thanks to the strong magnet. The phone is not going to fall off by itself even with doors off. I can remove the socket and the magnet mount in 5 seconds if I desire. Happy with this setup.

Items used:

RAM double socket arm:

RAM magnetic ball base:

Arkon swivel ball adapter:

I'll post a photo in the morning.

Do yourself a favor and put a bead of something like ultra black/grey where the motor cap meets the motor housing. That can be a point of ingress and leads to corrosion of the brushes and the armature bearing. You can also seal the motor case to the drum support just make sure to leave the drain open on the bottom.

Thanks. The are good tips, esp given how much it rains here. I'll do that sir!

I finally put on one of the Unicorns I found last year - factory OEM bikini top called the "sunbonnet" top. It attaches to the front just like the factory soft top does and had straps in the back that secure it to the rollbars. Very hard to find this .. I lucked out last year on Craigslist. I posted information about this in another thread, will link it here.

I also put on the Smittybilt CRES in the back. Finally the summer configuration I've always wanted.

If you haven't I'd look into painting those roll bar covers while they are still holding together. I wish I did mine sooner. Vinyl paint works great and essentially stops the aging process. It is allot of work but it is worth it.

Lookin Great Sri. Pretty killer stance. Where did you get that net? My pooch has jumped out of my truck before, to go after a squirrel. We have a seatbelt restraint, but all I can picture in my mind with that is the poor guy hanging by his neck over the side of the jeep! So, we've been having to kennel him when we go for jeep rides. This would be a nice addition...

I like the set I got from https://www.jeepcargonet.com/ including the pet retaining option that goes behind the front seats

Thanks Mike! Mine is Smittybilt ("C.R.E.S."). I got it since it's very easy to install as it attaches in the same way to the rear of a tub like a soft top. However the fit isn't too great. It works OK and is convenient though.

I also picked up a set (from Craigslist) like the one @IPerkWVU mentioned above, that is much more sturdy and probably a better idea to restrain your doggo.
