Question on Half Door Latches

good afternoon fellow Jeepsters...I have bought a 97 wrangler with half doors and the doors need some rebuilding .....the right hand side latch has the rivet thing that holds the outside door handle rod totally destroyed non-existent .......I have bought some "half door latches" form ebay from an 05 TJ....but the question is did the door latches change?.....this door latch seems to have the rivet part a bit lower than the one I currently own......the star pattern latch bolts seem to be at the same location but the overall latch assembly seems longer

The only differences that I know of is between full door latches (which are square) and half door latches (which are a rectangle).

I believe that the half door latches from '03 to '06 are different from the earlier TJ half door latches.
