I'm installing new hardware for my 1999 Jeep TJ. I ordered a complete top, frame and hardware kit from Rampage. Can anyone tell me what other point of contact the Side Bow attaches to besides the Bow Assembly Bracket? It says in the instructions to attach it to the Rear Door Surround Bracket. If I do that, how will the top ever be able to be put down, since the Rear Door Surround is attached to the roll bar, and as a result is unmovable.

I've read this a couple times and I can't make sense of it...but I'll give a try

The bows attach to brackets that are attached to the roll bar. Then the fabric is tucked under the belt rail and then at the back there is a tailgate bar that installed into brackets at the back of the tub.

Sorry, I must not be clear enough in my question. I'll take another stab at it.

The kit I have has two rear bow legs, with one pivot point on each of the lower holes on the Bow Assembly Brackets. I understand that these connect to the rear bow assembly. My question revolves around the two Side Bows, which are shaped like boomerangs, and have a pivot point at each end. One end goes into the upper holes on the Bow Assembly Brackets, which makes perfect sense. The other end is supposed to attach to the door surround, which is a bar that is permanently attached to the roll bar, and the frame of the jeep just behind the front seats. How can something that is supposed to be able to be retracted be affixed to something that is unable to be moved?

Ok lets start with this picture..what area are you struggling with?
