Random photos: Got anything interesting, unique, strange?

Lots of weather warnings yesterday about a winter storm and "bomb cyclone." Opened the weather app to see this...

What does that kit weigh? Will you carry it on your back sometimes?

My similar-ish backpack (no rollers) is about 16 lbs, plus tripod in belt carrier 10 lbs, plus any extra lenses strapped to the belt. I used to carry it on long hikes, but not so much these days.

I didn't weigh it, but I'll guesstimate around 20 lbs, not including a laptop (there's a place for one, and mine fits nicely). I probably won't be backpacking it much, if any - but the capability is there if needed. I'm more thinking vacations and possibly air travel with it. I lugged about that amount of gear (in fact, some of it in that picture is the same gear) to Greece a few times in a normal carryon. I had to leave all the lenses in their cases which just added to the weight and took up more space. I'm going to try to get back to Greece in the next year or so, I think this would be mo' bettah.

I made a video walk around/review that I'll upload to yootoob in the next day or so. I'll post it here so you can get a better look. I got it 50% off ($65) on Amazon with a coupon that apparently isn't there anymore. Its not perfect, but its pretty darn good, and is "right-sized" for the crap I like to lug around with me. You can pay $400-$500 for something similar, but larger which I don't need. Even at its regular price of $130, it was pretty attractive, but when I saw that 50% coupon, my mouse scorched the mouse-pad I went to buy it so fast!

You know you can get a smart phone with a camera, and save a lot of weight :ROFLMAO:

And spend twice as much, throw it away in 2 years, not have the capability, and have to deal with all the negatives of PHOOOOOONNE ownership. :D Everything you see in that picture added together is probably around the price of 2 smartphones - but much of it I've had for over 20 years. Now I'm into buying used, and have bulked out my equipment quite a bit.

My first and last use of "run and gun" videography. Don't like the results, looks too much like a monkey shot it with a smartphone! ;)

My kit looks like this. Different lenses go in the bag, depending on where I'm hiking. They don't all fit at once, and that would make a hiking bag too heavy. (Actually, it's too heavy anyway. Often, I leave the bag in the Jeep and just carry the camera and one or two lenses in pouches.)

I also wear a wide accessory belt for extra lenses, water, and mainly for the tripod.

I don't have a handy way to carry my longest telephoto lens ;)

Definitely better than the 'delorain meets Walter White' look. Would it look good on a TJ?

That suburban camo matches the neighborhood nicely. Now if they can come up with a camo scheme which makes the ugly thing disappear entirely, that would be fabulous.

That's a nice looking bag and kit. Yea, my "superzoom" stays at home mostly. Nice 'scope - better than my lens by far, at 1900mm I'm at about F/19 or 20! Did you make that Tripod?

Yes, I made the tripod, and everything else there (including the garage) except the glass. I figured that grinding and polishing four surfaces was a little too much for a first try at lens making.

Apparently made as a joke. Sound came out of the bell pointed back at the player, the other one was a dummy. 3rd valve is the same as the 1st - making it kinda hard to play. Olds brand.
