Rd 559/Medano Pass

My fiancé and I decided to go down to the Great Sand Dunes NP this Labor Day weekend. We left Friday morning and got back Sunday afternoon, so we could beat the touristy traffic. I have never been down to the Dunes and decided to take the Medano Pass down from road CO 559. The red pin is the North end of Medan Pass. Great little Jeep trail for a beginner Iike me.

The pass is pretty easy as it is mostly an earthen road with a couple of small rocky areas. The water crossing were fun to go through, with the deepest being at almost tire height. Camped at one of the primitive camp sites and star gazed on the Dunes the last night. Pics below of the trip!

Medano is a fun trail. It's very different from anything else I've seen out here.
