Re-gearing: what size gears?

Sorry Dan, the lowest ratio that motive makes for that setup is a 4.88. We can switch to Yukon's. Here is an updated quote. Be advised for most tj/lj applications we recommend a 5.13 for a 37" tire. Also be advised that the pinion in a 5.13 is very small and therefore not as strong.

4wheelparts is the Kmart equivalent for the off-road world. Find an independent shop that can source Revolution Gear and Axle ring and pinion.

Is this accurate?

It was the only choice 15 years ago when I did mine. Revolution, Sierra and Yukon all offer 5.13. Walk away from four wheel whores and try to find a reputable shop that will work with you.

Yukon Gear & Axle Front & Rear Ring and Pinion kit - Dana 30 Front / Dana 35 Rear - 4.56 gear ratio (from 3.73)

Thanks to @Jerry Bransford 's direction: at 4.56, the fun returned — a noticeable performance boost for the dinky 2.4L. Essentially, I'm one gear higher throughout the range - highway: used to be at 2400+- RPMs in 5th @, say, 55-60mph — I'm now comfortably cruising in 6th, 2400+- RPMs @ 65mph. Before, I often enough wouldn't see 6th on the highway because I never had the power to maintain, especially into the wind or uphill.
