Currently everything on my TJ is keyed the same. Ignition, full doors, and tailgate. I recently bought a set of half doors and I am wondering if there is any company that provides a service where you can send a key and the door locks and have the locks rekeyed to match the key so my half doors use the same key as everything else?

I’m interested to see what you end up doing. I’ve considered getting a tumbler kit… but right now, I just have two keys on my keychain and there’s little point in locking my half doors anyway. The only thing I’m worried about that locking the doors would solve is theft of the doors, and I’ve got McGard locks on them.

I just pulled the lock cylinders and filed the wafers down until my key worked.
TJ doors are insanely easy to break in to so the locks are near worthless anyway.

They are pretty easy to do yourself once you get the tumblers.

I used Mountaineer Tom's guide to rekey mine. Bought the tumbler pins and new lock plates off Ebay. It was such an easy job, I rekeyed my son's XJ rear hatch the same day due to it being mismatched as well. All 3 took me less than an hour. Definitely go this route, especially if you are a tinkerer and enjoy learning new things!

I keyed my half doors to match the OE Key. Locksmith did it for $20 a cylinder with a new trim plate and a thorough cleaning. Took them less than an hour to do it. But as Boog said... I never lock them. I use the hinge pin locks so the doors don't take a walk.

where did you get the hinge pin locks? I don't have a key for my half doors and have not had a top on in 4 years.

Same, McGard locks.

I lost the socket for a few months. I wasn't looking forward to drilling those out and probably scraping the fenders all up. I just found it in my toolbox the other day. Bullet dodged........

I rekeyed with a wafer kit I bought off ebay. You will still need to get the cap from a locksmith. I then disconnected the arm inside the runs to the inside latch. I can lock my doors and even when topless you can’t get the doors off unless you unlock them with the key.
