Really Bright LED Reverse Lights in Stock Housing

Resurrecting this thread as there are some newer options for LED 1156 lamps out there. These look promising from Super Bright LEDs, $15 each: https://www.superbrightleds.com/1156-led-light-bulb-with-stock-cover-36-smd-led-tower-ba15s-base

Then I saw these at Super Bright which are more directional which is what we are after when we use the flashlight reflector: https://www.superbrightleds.com/67-led-bulb-15-led-forward-firing-cluster-ba15s-base

It's hard to compare as nobody list actual lumens and even if they did nobody regulates the lighting industry so the manufacturer can claim whatever they want.

Anything is probably an improvement over factory, last time I backed up in the dark I couldn't actually tell there were backup lights at all. Anyone tried any recent ones?

I know they are expensive, but buy Blaine's lights. Really. They are so much brighter than any single bulb you can plug into your existing sockets. Plus, its not just reverse that gets an upgrade. Your tails and brakes/signals are Much brigher as well.

Agreed. Blaine's taillights are much nicer than stock and the reverse lights are brighter than what I cobbled together many years ago.

All I have to compare them to are MaxBilt Trail Tails.

I agree Blaine's lights are the best solution and they are on my list for the future, but I'm still needing a few other things including tires and shocks so I may try a couple cheap LEDs just for an upcoming trip to the beach.

You're only going to waste that money...Cheap won't be an upgrade, and getting an upgrade isn't cheap. Just do it...or don't do anything until you can.

I've paid for enough stuff 2x on my jeep to know that one now. I bet if I started over, for the amount of money I've spend on my jeep to get it to its current state, I could have a v8 swapped street drivable LJ on 40's...

The last photo is very cool. I absolutely hate blue tinged LED or Halogen lights (esp for headlights) and your photo shows how blue the Maxbilt ones are compared to Blaine's.

Interesting, Sri. I didn’t pick that up at first, but you are right.

I did get cree led bulbs and filled the chamber with aluminum reflective tape. That output was night and day different and not too much draw from the system. Was cheap and effective. Ultimately new tail lights from Blaine would be the ticket.

Don't waste your time on those with the stock housing. These are much better than what I cobbled together 10 years ago...

As long as the polarity is correct and the amperage draw does not blow a fuse, then you can cram as many sockets in there as you want to.

That would be the sane thing to do for improving the factory reverse lights.
