Now that I have a bumper with a recessed hitch, I figured I would look for a way to use that as the main rear recovery point.
I have all soft shackles in my bag, so eliminating steel and having the fewest connections is the main idea.

I have some Rhino USA gear and it seems pretty nice. Here is their $33 Option, but it does include a metal shackle:

I have an Overland Vehicle Systems soft shackle and Recovery Ring ( I haven't used either yet ). $70 solution (included the lock pin) with no need for a metal shackle:

Here is a strange setup. I'd consider ordering just the receiver piece for $59. I'm not sure what the 'butt crack' in the steel shackle is supposed to do...

If you have just WAY too much money you can spend $250 on a solid block of aluminum with 3 holes in it. NOTE you can't even install it sideways.

THIS looks interesting. I guess it is actually an anchor point for rappelling or rope rigging. :

THIS looks interesting. I'm not sure if it is designed for multiple attachments, or just getting the correct angle:

The last one is not for recovery.

You can soften the rough edges if needed. The hitch pin idea can be furthered by putting a bushing around it to make a larger dia wrap. Leave the soft shackle in there so it is ready for use. Heck, you could make a inner bushing with a radii on it to fit the softie, like a wide U. That would help it stay in the middle to avoid side load and pinching.

I tried to fix that about 3x yesterday. I thought maybe some Amazon item saved in my chrome buffer was messing it up.
It should be fixed now.
I bet she does sell a lot of shower enclosures.

Dang, so many options. Can someone suggest a recovery system. Be truthful I will probably only off-road my TJ at the beach a few times a year. It is totally stock. I friend told me I should get a receiver hitch that hangs below the rear bumper. I want a safe recovery point on the Jeep "just in case" I get stuck. I like the idea of bumpers with built in receivers and D rings but they are a bit costly, so is a complete below the bumper hitch. ???

If you want to drive to Washington state I'll give you a factory Mopar frame hitch

A single pin, a soft shackle, and an old piece of bike innertube to protect it from edges should do.
