You can. It has been discussed at length on the forum. The only issue you will run in to is you won't be able to rent a tow dolly from a larger company like Uhaul since Jeep states in the manual to flat tow or with all wheels up. Here are a couple of threads that will answer your question more in depth.
Absolutely, no problem. The owner's manual is incorrect on that recommendation, yes I know I know, when it says not to.
The reason we know that to be true is because so many of us have been running aftermarket manual hubs we leave unlocked when on the road for many years. Running manual hubs unlocked when on the pavement gives the same effect, stopping the front driveshaft from turning, as having the front wheels up on a dolly does.

Jerry, that is my exact thoughts. I owned a 76 Blazer with Locking hubs. Ran the unlocked on the road.
I know people dislike tow dolly because of loading and unloading, and a place to store it. Mine is new with Electric brakes and light. I hate to dump it.
I know this has been beat to death already, but for the sake of understanding why the manual is wrong in this case i figured I'd go into it further. Its been a while since i did my sye so I'm not 100% on this, but doesn't the oil pump get run off the output shaft? I can't think of any reason not to dolly with the rear tires on the ground. With only the front tires on the ground it could run out of lubrication in that case.
So long as the transmission is in gear/park and tcase in neutral it will keep things from spinning that could get hurtfrom what i can tell.
So can we or can we not tow on a dolly?. I’ve read every thread, the manual and asked in groups. 8/10 peeps say no. The manual says you can, on a disabled vehicle.

I did. You can is my understanding. Just have to make sure everything is in the correct position to do so, and if possible tow with 4 wheels on the ground, If you want to go the extra mile, disconnect the rear drive shaft at the axle.
