REMOVING 2006 TAILGATE COVERS?

I need to remove the tailgate plastic covers on my 06 TJ. On my JK's this was pretty simple but on my TJ it seems to be a tight fit. There must be a knack.

I know it's likely simple but I don't want to tackle it and damage anything as I'm wanting a OEM style resto build.
 
If you mean the tailgate hinge covers? Yes they are on there pretty tight. Pry hard enough that you start to question whether they might break and then they pop off. I just did the MoRyde Hinge Upgrade and they were on there pretty tight.

Thanks. Yes i'm referring to the plastic covers. Where did you apply the first pry?
