Merry Christmas Eve! I have a new to me 2001 Jeep TJ SE with 117k miles on it. The previous owner unplugged the horns because they were stuck in the on position. Also, the airbag lamp was on. I read many posts about these issues and most lead me to believe the old clock spring had finally bit the dust. Well, I ordered a new one, installed it after watching and reading many posts on the procedure and after all that work still have the same issue. I believe the horn switch is stuck on because when I unplug the horn from behind the airbag the horn stops. I can blow the horn by grounding it to the jeep so it leads me to believe the clock spring is functioning properly, at least for the horn. The airbag light is still on however. I’ve checked the fuses in the glove box and they all look good. Any ideas? Should I just order another driver side airbag assembly with horn switch?

The clockspring was a good guess because it is sort of a wear item and the other components are not. The clockspring has to flex and move every time you drive the vehicle so they fail more than the other parts. You need to get someone to read the fault codes to diagnose any further, the passenger side airbag is probably the least likely suspect. The cutoff switch, the control module and the wiring could also be at fault. One thing you could try without a scan tool is to cut off the passenger airbag with the key in the switch in the console. If the light goes out you have narrowed it down to the switch or the airbag
