My daughters 01 Sport has a spot of rust on the top of the passenger fender that has been growing. I starting working on it a while back by cutting it out to see how bad it was. Looking at it, it seems to have a bit of an inner fender piece as well.
I could likely fix myself, but by the time I buy all the stuff, have the welder, primer and can spray with clear to match, it'll take me a few weeks to finish. She's a busy college student, lives at home, but does rowing as well. I'm now debating buying a replacement fender and having it painted. Clear is also pealing off the cowl as well, so wouldn't mind that sprayed either and figure maybe just buy both or run without the cowl for a few days??
I say I could fix, because like I said, I have the welder, think I have some 20g steel. I just don't have the bondo, filler, etc not sure my paint gun is still great. Have a few cheapy Harbor Freight ones for misc oddball stuff. Thoughts? Where is a good place to source a good aftermarket fender? How much would you expect to pay someone to paint it?
Looks like Partify has fenders. No clue about them though. They offer Aftermarket for $145 and CAPA for $269. OEM is too much IMO. Then looks like they'd paint for $120. Looks like there are other places that will sell painted as well. Carparts.com is $163 for the fender. No clue what shipping would be on any of them either. I just figured, she can't be without for long, so might be an option to buy vs fix.
