The oil pan gasket on my 2.4 liter is leaking. Has anybody replaced it in their garage? I’m trying to decide whether to try to do it myself or take it to a mechanic. I mean, it seems simple enough. Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

No its simple enough, you can do it with the Jeep just sitting on it tires. Unbolt the exhaust flanges (4 bolts), unbolt the starter (2 bolts), then unbolt the 24 bolts that are holding the oil pan on.
Make sure you line up the bolts as your taking the off of the oil pan, so they can go back on in the same fashion (some of these are specific sizes/lengths). Also make sure you get the Fel-Pro Gasket, as it comes with these 4 dowels to help hold the gasket in place as your re-installing the oil pan.
Its not too bad of a job, you can do it within a couple hours casually. The only thing that might give you a hard time is the exhaust flange bolts, which I would soak with penetrating oil well in advance.
