Replacing the rear drive shaft u-joint

I’m looking to replace the u-joints on the rear drive shaft of my 2003 Rubicon. This drive shaft mates up to the 241OR transfer case.

My question is do I need to melt a plastic retaining ring to remove the drive shaft? I know this is a common feature on GM vehicles. The white plastic nipple sticking out of the drive shaft is what is throwing me off. See picture.

Mine had no plastic tabs. Still was a pain to remove them. Good luck!

Is that a factory driveshaft? I don't see the external snap rings like I have on mine or what is called out in your manual:

Yes. Use a propane torch to melt out the plastic retainer.
