Over here there was some discussion about a ring seal between the exhaust manifold and the down-pipe. Seems that perhaps only early years had one?
My 97 FSM shows one, but it must have been lost when a shop replaced the manifold years back.
Anyone know more about this part, what it was made of, and whether I should use one when I replace my exhaust system soon?
EDIT: While looking up the torque to replace my down-pipe, I found in the FSM where it specifies that the gasket/seal is only for the 4.0. I suppose that explains why my manifold’s bolts were far too short to accommodate one between the manifold and down-pipe.
