A buddy of mine is getting rid of his FJ cruiser and in the process, we repainted his roof rack. He decided not to remount the ladder on the back and gave it to me.
Thinking of throwing it on my TJ, my idea was to chop the nearly vertical part on the bottom leaving it flat, cutting the top part accordingly, and then welding two mounting tabs like on the screenshot I took. It’ll attach to one of the bars of the cargo basket.
I’ll bolt it through the rear fender flare on the bottom part of the ladder as well. I think it’ll look less goofy too once the bottom is closer to the hardtop.
I could also cut the lower portion closer to the bottom rung of the ladder, add the mounting bracket down there, and then mount or weld it to the rails that hold my cargo basket.
