Rugged Radio intercom vs Midland MXT275

Sent this to Midland support today...bought a Rugged intercom and trying to get it to work with my MXT275.

Imaging making a custom RJ45 coupler with a k plug for integration.

I purchased a Rugged Radio intercom and I'd love to integrate it into my MXT 275. Rugged has a MXT 100 cable with a RJ11 6 pin...but not a 8 pin RJ45 for the 275.

I ordered a Rugged K plug for Midland portable radios...but using the PTT on the Rugged intercom doesn't key up the radio.

Looking at the pin out for the MXT radios I see PTT pins on most of the models...but not on the 275.

I do see UART on the 275...is the entire handset a USB device and therefore digital with no specific PTT pin?

Love to work with you and Rugged on a solution they can implement and sell...I love how compact your radio is and I don't want to replace it!

Response...got a CM-MID cable not the CJ so ordering that cable...

Hi Mac,

The CJ-M-MXT-1 should work on the MXT105 and MXT115.
The CJ-MID should work on the MXT275 mic, although It is an S2 type, not a K connection. The two pin connector on the MXT275 is the same pinout as the Midland handhelds. The MXT275 uses serial communication with the microphone, the radio won’t operate without the microphone connected.

With my intercom I needed an audio filter to minimize the background hum. They have some on clearance at rugged if needed. They have different ones so make sure you order the right connections.
