Last year while I was driving down the highway, one of my corner buckles on my safari top gave up the ghost. The flapping was pretty annoying so I pulled over to tie it off, I noticed the plastic buckle broke but the loop was still intact. Looking at it I wondered if I could make it functional again if I put 2 D-rings on it like a motorcycle helmet, I realized I had a couple extra key rings on my key chain so I put two of them on the loop and threaded the strap through it. I carry a few extra rings with me now for the day one of the others breaks.
