I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on some prp seats ( daily driver with adjustable head rest 4 inch extra tall)
Looking for some ideas to fabricate seat mount so I can safely fit into my tj without cracking my head in an accident. already have big boy seat brackets and the stock seats are just to small , my head hits the roll bar if I sit straight up, the head rest only goes up to my neck
Just looking for ideas to get the seats lower and still have the slider functioning, do not need the seats to fold forward ,

This is my current setup

Custom made is about it. I have yet to get it welded but I have all the plates cut. This is an older model where the top plate is facing the wrong way but this is what it will sorta look like.

I figured it would have to be custom fabricated, where did you get you plates from?

I got mine from a local vendor I use for work that does flame cutting. I just sent them my .DXF files and they cut it out for me. Though I am thinking of making another set using sendcutsend that is mostly one formed piece and welding in some reinforcement ribs. If you are interested we can work out a deal of a second set being made just PM me. Keep in mind its a “prototype” that I have yet to use.

Right now, with my PRPs, I am using the PRP adapter on factory mounts and its definitly higher than the factory 97-02 seats by maybe an inch, but not high enough where I am worried about my head hitting the roll bar with me being at 6’-0. But I still want to lower my seats the 2in for comfort. I also deviated from PRP instructions on the adapters and flipped the direction of the outer bracket and used spacers to move the seat closer to the inside and I found that centered up the seat well.

I fabbed up my own seat brackets and lowered the seat since I couldnt find anything and now with the PRP set its way better

Following. If someone is making these I would love to pay someone to weld up a set. I am 6'7" and I think the only reason I fit in the Jeep is my seats are sagging enough to give me the needed headroom. The big boy brackets help, but I would really like a shorter bracket so I could replace the seat foam and still fit comfortably.

Well I still have to make one for my passenger seat, I didnt make one yet because my wife likes the hieght but the difference whenI look t it is driving me crazy so I will make one and if I have enough material I may make an extra set

XCRN I think your design would work out for me , I’ll send you a pm , I found a set that genright makes but there 400$

Is anyone genuinely interested in having some brackets made to lower the seats? I designed these to fit the 97-02 seat sliders but might fit the 03-06 sliders and when I get the first set in I can test it on my LJ. I was thinking of coming in at $250+shipping no paint for a set of 4. These will also move the sliders back approximately 2in since I never found the furthest point back on stock seat risers to be enough but with the current seat relocation brackets I have that move them back 4in, I only go back not even half way.

I have an 02 and would be seriously interested at $250 a set if you decide to make these, but I usually go back a little more than 1/2 way with my big boy brackets (but not all the way), so 2" may not be enough for me, but the trade off with extra head room may be worth it. If you could set them back 3" it would be perfect. How much lower are they?

They are about 2in lower

I'm in for these. 06 LJ

Funny. I’m 6’ and added seat risers to my’04

I spent an inordinate about of time and effort lowering a driver's seat for someone not much taller than that. It isn't always about height. When I say inordinate, I mean a complete rework of the whole mess to drop it about 4".

I have found the 03-06 seat position is about right for me also at 6’. The brackets currently on the market that I used to move my 2000 TJ seat back 4” (realisticaly only used it to go back 1.5”) did help with some of my comfort gripes but not the same as just plopping into my LJ. Now with the PRP seats I recently installed, I have to do something, it is just not comfortable to me at the height it gets raised to no matter how far back I move the seat.

I think for my body proportions with the stock 97-02 seat position, my knee keeps hitting the steering wheel when I am in a “relaxed” position and I feel muscle strain in my ankles after a long enough drive. I dont get that with my 04 LJ.

I guess it’s just personal comfort. Lately my Jeep comfort is found under my LJ. 😉

Cut down the oem bracket by about 2” and welded a flat piece of steel to it. Still have to do this for the passenger side.
With little time and lots of projects I might be interested in a set of your brackets.
