Daily drive a JLR myself but will keep my TJ Rubi and I'm probably going to end up with a JK also. Paid for vehicles don't cost me much to keep around so I don't really feel a reason or need to sell.

Also really good cars and easy to work on. But those cup holders......I have an E90 328i. RWD, auto, no iDrive. Pretty simple in terms of BMWs, and it has been pretty good so far. The main issue with these cars is oil leaks, which I've done most of them already, and the electric water pump that fails around 100-150k miles. The E90 chassis seems a bit better as far as little shit breaking compared to the E46s. A friend has an E46 330i ZHP with the 6-speed manual and that is a super fun analog BMW to drive. The newer stuff just doesn't compare. I've taken my car on a 2000 mile road trip with zero issues, and hammered it on tail of the dragon in the Smoky Mountains. To me the BMW is as fun on-road as the Jeep is off-road, so the perfect combo. Life is too short to drive boring cars.
Oh yeah the cup holders are useless. Thankfully I rarely need to use them, but it's clear they were an afterthought. Zee Germans don't need cup holders apparently.Also really good cars and easy to work on. But those cup holders......
As an owner of a TJ and a JT what I can tell you is the TJ is more fun.
Granted, the Jt’s bells and whistles are great and it is my daily driver but I also use it as truck vs as a Jeep.
The TJ is at our lake property and what we drive when there. My wife jokes that when we go there I park my brand new one to drive my 17 year old one.
If you can swing it, keep the TJ and retire it to weekend driving.

I have considered picking up a used 2015-17 JKU to use as a dd, but I would never sell my LJ.
What keeps me from buying one is the price. Around here a used 2015 Rubicon Unlimited w/ 70k on the odmeter goes for $35-40k.
Why would I buy one. It's just easier with a family. Loading an LJ with 4 people, a dog and luggage for vacation isn't fun.

What is this "car payment" of which you speak? I have had my TJ as my only vehicle sixteen years as of this coming Thursday.
