This was 4 years ago and the highest elevation I had been at with my jeep at the time (roughly 12k feet), tried to make it over a pass only to find out that it was closed years ago by the forest service who placed massive boulders in place. It was a fun adventure.

Ridinsurf66: where is the "backside" and how do you get to it? We're heading up this weekend and I'd like to check it out!
