I wear a timex expedition that has a large font. I didn’t wear a watch before my first deployment where I went without a phone for months.

After that, I always wear a watch. Half the time, my phone is missing.

I'm hardly a high dollar watch purist. All of my watches were under $500 each. I do like having different watches though. I like to buy myself a nice watch after every combat tour I have done. I've done 4 so far. No plans for any more. 🍻

I'll be the oddball..I have never worn a watch as I have never found the need. I have this thing I have to carry around called a cell phone that does everything a watch does. Am I missing something? Is it a fashion thing? Enlighten me please

I used to wear watches when I was a teenager, I broke many of them just doing day-to-day activities; it would always catch a corner, or snag on something. The glass lenses were beat to hell and I usually broke the wrist band so I stopped wearing them.

A few weeks ago my MIL gave me a galaxy smart watch that my FIL no longer wore. Its been a bit of an adjustment getting used to wearing a watch again. I do like that it counts my steps, gives me reminders to stand up and I can log my water intake. Its surprisingly motivating to get me to be a bit more active.

You carry a cel phone, some people wear a watch. What's the difference?

But ya. Some watches come with the knobs on the left. I forget why. Maybe its a right handed watch? Lol. Idk.

bomber pilots used to have to time their drops since there was no gps.. that and no pressure in the cabin makes it cold AF so the chronograph buttons are on the left side of the watch to be able to use your right thumb while wearing gloves.

Interesting. Cool to learn. My great uncle was a flight engineer/top gunner in a B-24 Liberator.

Yes, you're missing everything.
A mechanical watch is complicated and impressive, a cell phone will always be just a cell phone.
High end mechanical watches tend to go up in value, where as your cell phone will probably be obsolete and worthless next year.
A nice mechanical watch says you have style, panache and appreciate the finer things, your cell phone is boring, common and just about every homeless person has one. lol

Y'all don't laugh. Or at least don't point at me while you laugh.

This is my daily. The wife (then girlfriend) gave it to me in 1988 and I've worn it since then.

zero chance i'd laugh at that.. that thing is awesome!

careful with that bracelet.. would hate for it to break apart on you and possibly get lost!
