im looking for what i need to do to the shift linkage when I rip the 4inch lift out of this jeep

i think but not sure if there's an adapter up against the floorboard (because i dont know what to look for)
If there is OR isnt
what gear (remember automatic) and where do i put my 4WD lever
AND how do i adjust the mess im making so it will shift correctly when im all done

Thank you very much
ya i know im NOT the brightest of the crayons but i can and DO color very well outside the lines (of the road :) )

If it’s a cable shifter it should be fine.

The tranny uses a cable shifter, so no issues there if it is stock (and it very likely is stock).

There could possibly be an issue with the transfer case shifter, as it is a direct mechanical connection. But that would only possibly have been changed if there is a body lift installed. If no body lift, there will likely be no problem, as there would have been no reason to change it.

Do you have a body lift?

The PO added the spacers for the cross member as a budget way to deal with vibrations caused by the 4” lift. When you lower it, you may be able to remove those spacers.

The stock transfer case shift mechanism is mounted between the transmission and the transmission tunnel (the body). That was likely not modified when the cross member was lowered (with the spacers), and will be slightly misaligned as a result - but not enough to matter. If you remove the spacers when you lower the suspension, it should return to the proper alignment.

I am assuming since there are spacers at the cross member, that there is no motor mount lift. The reason I asked about the body lift is that would definitely alter the proper alignment of the transfer case shifter mechanism.

If you have the stock linkage you may need to take a look at it and adjust it. It’s not difficult to do, but if it’s giving you some fits going into 4L a small adjustment will fix that.

A cable shifter is nice, but not required if you have a functioning stock linkage and no body lift.

If you do need a cable for some reason, I suggest Savvy over Steinjager and Novak.
