I use a product from Permatex known as aviation form a seal NO3 in the place of RTV a lot of times, its oil and grease resistant.

Depending on how they machined the hole for the sensor, they can be nice or have a very sharp edge around the top that makes it almost impossible to install the sensor without cutting off a sliver of o-ring. Not entirely the shop's fault but they should know to look for it.

The O ring wasn’t cut, it was rolled out of the groove and flattened in a small spot. I replaced O ring and applied a small amount of RTV

Also all I had handy to refill last weekend was MERCON 5. Wasn’t sure if that was okay so draining now to replace with ATF 4

Should I apply any thread sealant to the drain and fill plugs?
