Should I add coil spring spacers or a body lift?

So I'm almost finished with putting together my lift kit build with hopes of running 32's on my 2001 Wrangler 4.0L auto. (i have not thrown the idea of regearing in the future since i'm running 3.07 at the moment) My current kit includes Rancho RS5000x shocks (2-3"), paired with 2" Rustys off Road springs, adjustable trackbar. Do you suggest I add 0.75" Daystar Coil spacers, or add a 1" or 1.25" body lift with 1" motor mount instead?? I wont be doing much off roading, just some day trips to the mountains. All help appreciated!

You could go either way honestly. Given that Ranchos tend to run long, I'd probably opt for the coil spring spacers.

Why Rusty's? I ran some 2" BDS springs and a BL with 32s on my old 98'. I always add 3/4-1" more lift up front because I don't ride people in the back.

Thanks Chris. This was the way i was leaning. Figured i could always add a 1" body lift in the future if i felt the need to push for 33's.

I went with Rusty's after a buddy of mine suggested them. He ran with their stuff on his XJ and had nothing but good things to say. Love the way your 98 looks and sits! kind of what i'm going for.
The XJ crowd seems to think that way. What part of Va are you in?

Yep, that's how I would do it at least. If you ever want to go to 33s, the body lift will be the key to that.

I think you're making this too complex. You state your goal is 32" tire. Not much off riading in your future you claim. Keep it simple. Get a spring only and be done.

Track down some 2", 2.5", or 3" springs and be done. Nothing needed to add. Should you want a bigger tire later on...poly lifts are really cheap.

Good luck.

Appreciate the input. I have the 2” coil springs. I was thinking of adding a little more height for the 32s just to be safe and give extra clearance. I hear 3” lift is usually recommended for 32s.

I have 2" spring spacers, no real problem with them, but keep in mind spring sag can bite you (I only have 1" of effective lift ) I might consider a BL and MML lift so that you can do a tummy tuck in the future.

My suggestion would be to pull the springs, set axles to full bump, put tires on and check for clearance. You'll likely need to add a little bump stop extension. A body lift may help reduce the amount of bump stop extension you'll need to keep the tires out of the metal portions of the inner fender. While you have the axle at full bump, also check from steering lock to lock to see if the tires clear the sway bar and lower control arms. Also while at full bump, measure the shocks and determine the collapsed length from upper mounting point to lower mounting point. This measurement will determine what shock you should run.

Ok...so put the 2" springs on...the 32's and see where you're at.
You may need something. You may need nothing. I'd bet you'll need nothing.

You're over thinking this for a 32 tire and by your admission seldom off roading.

You desire a look more than trail prowess. Put the springs and tires on and forget about it.
