So we bought a Jeep—2006 LJR

I’m pretty sure Axle Hill on Pritchett at the first TJFest convinced him he needed hydro assist. He got it shortly after.

It really went like this...

At Moab TJ Fest, broke the steering stabilizer. Called the wife and she asked how it's going. I said I broke it. She asked how much to fix it? I said well there are two options. I can spend like $100 and just replace it, or I can spend $2000 and install hydro assist. She asked what hydro assist does... and since she drives the Jeep as well I said "you know when you're on rocks, and the lockers are on, and I tell you to turn driver or passenger and you just can't turn the wheel?" she says "yeah, I hate that" I said "well this fixes that."

Her response?

"buy it."

True story... best way to get the wife to approve upgrades to the Jeep, IMO... is to have her wheel it also!

Guess I will get to use some of my new sockets soon :)

Where might I find a set like that? Looks like you have everything.

They are Tekton, 3 sets.. all skipless (1/2 metric for example runs 10mm-38mm).
1. was all chrome sockets including 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 in deep/std sae/metric
2. was all 1/2 inch sockets deep/std and chrome/metric
3. was full bit socket set

those three make up 95% of whats in that drawer. I know some won't be used often if at all, but I got tired of having to run to the store or mcguiver something because my set's skipped a size. And it makes my OCD feel good :)

I thought they might be Tekton. Impressive.

Second Drawer done on my new tool/box setup... couldn't get any toolbox widgets that work well for the thicker extensions, so went with toolganizer... they work fine, basically just 3d printed blocks with holes/magnets. They have different colors available so I went with a different color for each size (1/4, 3/8, 1/2) All new Tekton wratchets and extensions, only thing old in there are the two torque wrenches.

Working on the wrench drawer next I think.

Very cool, Dave. You know how much I like organization.

I hope you both are doing well.

Doing 'OK'... we've both had some health issues the past month, but finally getting back on track these days... finally got the tires back on the Jeep after the cracked track bar mount... and figuring out my role as a newly elected club president (lol, jokes on them eh?) and a new job role incoming... just lots going on. Haven't wheeled in over 2 months and it feels wierd!

Got a third drawer done on my new USG toolbox setup, populated with a new driver set from Tekton... and a set of punches/chisels. Still trying to figure out which wrenches/pliers I want to pick up, those will be the last two major drawers of new tools.

As Chief Brody said, “You’re gonna need bigger Tool Box…”

🙂

but, but... I just GOT one! lol... still have open drawers, and a ways to go moving from old stuff to new. This whole re-org is probably going to take another 4-6 months before I'm done anyway. :)

Yup. “That tool box is too big!”

…said no man ever.

🙂

Hope all is well, Dave.
