Does anyone have any questions about the JLs?

We haven’t gone very far yet. Maybe 60 miles.

Observations so far:

The engine sounds like shit. I’ll record a video and post it.

It wants to downhill engine break all the time. We haven’t even driven up to the volcano yet.

You can only engage the lockers in 4WD. The computer won’t allow it otherwise. Lockers are Rear Only or Front and Rear. No option for Front Only.

You can only disengage the sway bar in 4WD. There are a couple ways to tell if it is on/off on the dash display.

Downhill assist only works in 4 Low. I haven’t played with that yet.

Funny you say that, I wasn't impressed with it either when we rented one in Hawaii. I'm sure it's a hell of a rig but it just felt numb like most new cars do.

Jeeps never have the best sounding exhaust but these definitely are worse.

The Rubicon in the JL behaves just like the JK/TJ did.

They don't want people with more money than brain killing themselves with all the extra equipment.

It's quite incredible they actually include a sway bar disconnect at all TBH. Lawyers have already begun having a field day with this issue with the JK.

Did you buy full insurance? If so I have a lot of questions that could be "tested" 😉

We drove around all day today. Probably about 75 miles.

This Jeep has the Turbo 2.0L 4 cylinder 🤪

I filled it up at Costco today. They didn’t mention fuel requirements.

“The 2.0T engine runs on 87 octane, but Jeeprecommends 91 for optimal performance and efficiency.”

The dash display has all sorts of useful information:

Backup Camera is nice and bright even at night. You can almost see straight down

It’s not crazy loud like a Ford Powerstroke. I think the audio on the video is just cranked up.

Couple more items.

The remote has the proximity / RFID to allow the vehicle to start without inserting the key. But there is no way to unlock the doors without using the button on the remote.

The fender flares are are apparently designed to catch as much shit as possible.

Maybe it's just the video but damn that motor is crazy loud for an idling 2.0t
That's normal for a DI motor. The injectors are extremely loud. The best combo would be the 4xe with the extra electrical umpf - 350hp/470tq?

I think you can edit the engagement of the locks/sway bar in AlfaOBD but I'm not 100% certain.

The 8 speed is a great trans, I have it behind the 3.6 in my Grand Cherokee and I love it. It does aggressively gear down when descending a grade which I like.

My step dads JL has the 2.0T and it is definitely a noisy motor, but it's got plenty of power. I'd get it over the 6 cylinder. He's running 35's on stock axles, non rubi, and the 8spd auto. Drives awesome as far as I think

I don’t have a total mileage, but we have been pretty much everywhere on Maui.

That thing sounds like a hunk of shit and the dash/display is just depressing, the whole thing is depressing, just another modern car that happens to be shaped like a Wrangler. I like the looks of the JL over the JK, they certainly corrected some aesthetics, but overall these things all make me want to try even harder to preserve my TJ as long as humanly possible.

I don’t know enough about the 2.0 to trust it just yet - I’d personally stick with the V6. The engine bay looks too crowded and they’re probably expensive to work on. They are nice looking rigs though. That does look like an amazing vacation. I’m jealous
